At Balcatta Vet Hospital we provide first aid for wildlife casualties day and night.

The animal's injuries are assessed by a veterinarian who will decide the best course of action. Initial first aid commonly involves pain relief, fluids, antibiotics, x-rays, feeding and warmth. Within the first 24h the animals are collected by the Widlife Rehabilitators where they sometimes embark on a long process of recovery. Some of our staff members are also keen rehabilitators.

This year so far we have admitted over 800 widllife casualties ranging in size from a small Kingfisher to a large Kangaroo. The service is provided free of charge to the Perth Community.
